Thanks Karl! Love your ideas on how to perk their interest! Certainly teaching doctrine does not - or better said should not - be dull or boring! It can be fun and better yet fascinating!

This is fantastic! I think we too often assume kids can't handle "deep stuff." The reality is kids can handle a lot more than we think! I always say kid rise to the level we challenge them too. I have even taught kids some Greek words when there was some need insights, and just said, "You aren't supposed to learn this until Bible college..." and that also perks their interest. Or, "I'll bet your parents don't even know this..." Kids LOVE to learn! Challenge them and teaching doctrine is so important, it is the foundation of our faith. Let's not be "a mile wide and an inch deep." I love challenging my kids to think deeply about the things of God. They will surprise you with the questions they ask and the answers they will give when you dare to go deep with them!

I teach from the series of books, Micah Understands Salvation, Nathan Understands the Tabernacle, and Asher Understands the Covenant. I order them from Barnes & Noble but I see Amazon has them. They all contain basic salvation in a fiction form.

Phineas and Ferb are fascinating to watch with my two kids. Yes, a lot of humor is packed into it that adults will pick up on. It wasn't until you contrasted it with other Disney channel shows on the air that I realized what positive traits the boys portray. I have often pondered how the other disney shows portray extremely self-centered characters as super funny. You didn't mentioned how the villain's "evil" plots seem fairly devoid of typical evilness. It is usually his self-centered personality over-focusing on a pet peeve that is destined to cause problems for the tri-state area. Non of which is imitatable by any means.
Random thought - Why has Disney created a ride or attraction at it's theme parks based Phineas and Ferb's inventions? I'd ride it.

Aren't you a little bit too old to be watching a kids show?

I LOVE the show. You are right on with so many of your observations. It is a show that we can all watch together. Like classic Toy Story style movies, it is funny on so many levels. There is the obvious stuff that kids think is funny, but so many things funny to me as an adult as well, that kids would miss.

In our services, we find that when we can have fun as adults doing our different aspects of ministry, the kids will have fun as well. We always have humor that is directed to our leadership team. It helps keep them involved and having a good time.

As I kept reading through the article, I noticed there was a huge element that you missed. I just kept wondering....."Hey, Where's Perry?"
